2026 program schedule
Pre-College Online kicks off on Monday, June 22 with Orientation (see below for details), followed by a Wednesday webinar: Writing an Artist Statement.
During the next four weeks (beginning June 29), you will follow a Monday/Wednesday class schedule. On Mondays you will take your Foundations class, followed by a Wednesday class focused on your chosen concentration. In addition, on Tuesday, July 7, you will take part in our next webinar, Life at RISD.
The final week of Pre-College Online (July 27–31) is devoted primarily to crits, with your Foundations final crit on Monday and concentration crit on Wednesday. You will also participate in a Preparing Your Portfolio webinar on Tuesday, July 28.
Finally, the program concludes on Thursday, July 30 with a closing celebration to acknowledge all you’ve accomplished during the program, and a final webinar: Resources for Attending RISD.
Webinar details and times will be announced at a later date. Class meetings are three hours long and available in either the morning, afternoon, or evening (EDT), but note that not all courses are available at all times.
For meeting times of specific courses, review the Pre-College Online Curriculum. Students can begin engaging with course content one week before the first class meetings.
Orientation
The program begins with a virtual orientation. In this live meeting, you’ll hear more about what you can expect, advice on how to manage your time well, and how to navigate the various web portals. You’ll hear useful tips on how to document your work so that it’s displayed well for online viewing (which will be very helpful for your portfolio preparations).
We’ll share some useful insights on how to set up your home studio so you’ll be ready to go when classes start. You will also begin accessing your asynchronous course content to prepare you for your first class meetings the following week.
